NACS Magazine - New Rules for Tobacco Retailing..

June 9, 2010 - New Rules for Tobacco Retailing by Chris Blasinsky, NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) Magazine, June 2010..

These regulations take effect on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 so if your stores are not operating in compliance already, you must do so as soon as possible.

Virtually all tobacco products are subject to the new regulations: cigarettes, cigarette tobacco, roll-your-own tobacco and smokeless tobacco (including snuff). Notice that doesn’t include cigars, little cigars and pipe tobacco.

Some cigarette makers have made the move from paper wrappers for cigarettes to tobacco wrappers for cigars to avoid the new regulations. (Clove cigars close but not cigarettes..)
