South Korea - in 2007, world's 12th largest cigarette exporter..


August 23, 2010 - South Korea ranked as the world's 12th largest cigarette exporter in 2007, recent data released by the World Trade Organization (WTO) showed.

South Korea's cigarette exports accounted for 1.66 percent of all global cigarette exports of 3.27 million tons in 2007, according to the data. The figure is the highest since 1995 when the WTO began compiling related data. In 1995, South Korea’s tobacco exports only accounted for two-tenths of a percent of the world’s tobacco exports.

Brazil was found to be largest exporter of tobacco followed by the European Union, the United States, India and China.
