January 1, 2011 - Missouri joins dozens of other states, including Kansas, that have passed fire-safe cigarette (fsc) laws, requiring stores to sell only self-extinguishing cigarettes.

The law (signed into law July 1, 2009) was suppose to take effect September 2010. State Fire Marshall Randy Cole: To sell down existing stock, cigarette retailers and wholesalers will have until January 1, 2011, to bring inventory in line with the new law.
