September 13, 2010 - The theme for the Congress is ‘Promoting the Scientific Basis for Tobacco Product Regulation’. The tobacco industry faces an increasing level of new tobacco product regulation, as governments respond to their obligations under the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) or implement their own local measures such as those under the US Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.
The 2010 CORESTA Congress will start today with a presentation by Dr. David Ashley, the director of the Office of Science at the Center for Tobacco Products of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
More than 500 people from about 35 countries and 175 organizations are meeting in Edinburgh for the conference, which will end on Thursday, September 16th.
