Back on September 25, 2010 we reported that Altria's tobacco operating companies have launched a voter education and awareness campaign for their adult tobacco consumers. (Altria believes outcome of U.S. November 2, 2010 election will benefit big tobacco..)
Mike Szymanczyk CEO of Altria, Inc. has stated on many occasions that Philip Morris owes their success: to the ability to connect with adult tobacco consumers through the in-store experience and the development of one-to-one relationships using their database of 25 million adult cigarette smokers(Remarks, Investor Presentation, 3/11/2008).
We are sure some of these 25 million have stopped using tobacco but are still bombarded with coupons and other special offers enticing them to come back. For example here's a promotion for getting a coupon every week when purchasing Skoal smokeless tobacco.
